How Does the COVID-19 Pandemic Affect My Child Custody Schedule?

Updated: Jul 26

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and advice from state and medical officials around the country advising people stay at home and socially distance, many factors are complicating previously existing custody orders and arrangements.

You might be wondering, “Is it safe for my child to continue to travel to and from their parents homes for visitation?” What if one parent is a medical professional or emergency medical care worker? Is it in the child’s best interests to continue to have visitation with that parent and potentially be exposed to this deadly virus?

Custody Orders are intended to be followed by the parties involved and violating the terms of that Order may result in an enforcement action against the parent either withholding or abdicating their access to the child once this pandemic is over.

If you are facing questions such as these or have concerns about how your rights may be affected, contact an experienced professional at Spencer & Stahl, P.C. at (410) 203-2223 to discuss your options and gain guidance on how to best proceed with your potential matter.
